Description
Benzoin is a pathological product produced when certain tree trunks are injured. It is produced by incising the bark and collecting the exuded resin after it hardens on exposure to air and light. Benzoin is an ancient drug that has had more different Latin titles and synonyms since its origin in the 15th or 16th century than any other official preparation. 3M™ Compound Benzoin Tincture is an alcohol solution of compound benzoin that may be used to increase adhesion.
PRODUCT BENEFITS
Adherent: Excellent complement for Blist-O-Ban. The most common backcountry use of CBT is as a tape adherent, particularly effective when used with Blist-O-Ban or moleskin in blister treatment applications. It also helps wound-closure strip and adhesive bandages stay in place.
Skin Protectant: Widely used as a skin protectant and is particularly effective for ulcers, bedsores, scrapes, cracked skin, and cracked lips.
Sold as six, single-use 0.67 ml ampules per package.

Tincture of Benzoin
Great price and value for your first Aid Kit/ Boo Boo Kit. It preps your skin and becomes tacky as it dries., so that your bandage will stick to your skin.

Perfect and portable - for adhesion
I purchased five more packs to replace my old supply I used up. I use the product for adhesion - to secure tape to my feet when working, hiking, or any other activity that will cause blisters. Works great with 3M Transpore surgical tape. I also used last year after a surgery with a steri-strip like product on my incision. I keep ampules and tape in my first aid kits, car, bike, and hurricane supplies. When the product got shipped to me (both times!), it was "Compound Benzoin Tincture USP". This is the adhesion product.

Not for adhesion
This is Tincture of Benzoin not Compound Tincture of Benzoin (CTB). There is a big difference. This will not prep skin to aid in tape or bandage adhesion. in fact, it will do the opposite and keep tape from adhering. Its good stuff but not for adhesion.

Great to refill your kit
I love that Rescue Essentials sells items to restock First Aid Kits. During the off season, I go through my kit and order bandages, dressings and yes, benzoin. These things get used up in the field and it's hard to find an appropriate amount in a drug store. Thank you RE!!
