Military IFAKs are often structured around the guidance of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) recommendations, which are evidence-based and battle-proven methods and techniques to reduce deaths at the point of injury (POI). The TCCC principals are relied on by the US Department of Defense (DoD) and NATO allies to prepare troops to respond quickly with effective medical techniques.
TCCC responders use the MARCH algorithm to prioritize care, which also offers suggestions on ideal components (listed below) for a Military IFAK that adheres to TCCC standards. Click here to read more about the MARCH algorithm.
Massive hemorrhage
- Tourniquet (TCCC approved variety such as: CAT, SOF, or SAM XT)
- Hemostatic Gauze (such as Combat Gauze or Celox)

- Chest Seal (such as Hyfin Vent Chest Seal or COMPACT, or Halo)
- Decompression Needle
Circulation
- IV / IO supplies are not typically included in a standard TCCC IFAK but can added to the supply list when appropriate

Some individuals will prefer to create their own custom IFAK to ensure that each component suits their needs and preferences. We also offer many military IFAKs that adhere to the TCCC guidelines for convenience. Below are some examples:
