Leland, NC – Rescue Essentials is proud to announce that its recently introduced pediatric dosing syringe, the Slishman Pedidose, has been named the Preventive Product of the Year at the 2025 Baby Innovation Awards.
The Baby Innovation Awards program honors excellence and innovation across the highly competitive baby care industry. This year’s award recognizes products that provide meaningful, practical solutions to improve the safety and care of children.
Invented by Dr. Sam Slishman, an emergency physician and Chief Medical Officer at Rescue Essentials, the Slishman Pedidose was designed to help caregivers accurately dose common over-the-counter children’s medications based on a child’s weight, not age. The Slishman Pedidose delivers the correct volume of acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and diphenhydramine for any child up to 50 pounds, using a single, easy-to-read scale.
“For too long, parents and caregivers have had to rely on confusing dosing charts based on age or weight ranges, as well as on imprecise dosers... not to mention tablespoons!” Dr. Slishman said. “Pedidose provides a simple, intuitive way to reduce the risk of underdosing or overdosing liquid medicines in children, especially in high-stress situations.”
Pedidose is ideal for home use, travel kits and daycares, as well as clinics, urgent cares and ERs, where dosing accuracy and speed are critical.

Sam Slishman finished his emergency medicine residency in the late 1990s. During residency, he came up with some medical device ideas but nothing found “traction” for years. In 2003 he started a nonprofit called Endorphin Power Company, aimed at helping people with drug and alcohol problems. “EPC” continues to help people in the Albuquerque area today.
In 2012, Sam moved to California to live closer to his folks, and there he met his wife, Vanessa. And thanks to Rescue Essentials’ founder, Phil Carey, that year Slishman Traction Splints finally came to market. Ever since, he has served as Rescue Essentials' Chief Medical Officer. And he continues to dream up new devices with the help of his boys, Max and Zak, and he loves helping other inventors along too.
