The Helitag Kit is designed to prevent litter spin during hoist operations.

Unrestrained litters can spin up to 180 rpm - turning a patient into a “human centrifuge” and forcing body fluids into the ends of extremities. Uninterrupted litter spin can cause death. The helitag kit prevents litter spin (when applied according to directions).

This kit contains 300 feet of high visibility 7 mm water rescue rope which floats (thanks to a polypropylene core and nylon sheath). This rope is not suitable for rappelling. At the litter end of the rope, there is a “weak link” that breaks between 265 to 310 pounds. It acts as a safety “break away”, allowing the rope to break if it becomes entangled in trees or ship masts. It is attached to the V strap with 2 stainless steel screw links. The V-shaped strap should be attached to the litter with 2 locking carabiners. The kit is all contained in a 7" diameter x 23" bag (coyote tan). This is required onboard all Army MedEvac helicopters and in many infantry medical sets.
