Tourniquets

Tourniquets are an essential component of the national Stop the Bleed initiative and an important tool to address the M in the MARCH algorithm (Massive hemorrhage). We're proud to offer one of the widest selections of tactical tourniquets for sale online, including TCCC approved tourniquets such as the Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT tourniquet), SOF, and SAM XT, as well as other popular options including the SWAT-T and more.

At the pinnacle of modern tourniquet technology are devices like the Generation 7 CAT Tourniquet from NAR—tested and proven by the Institute of Surgical Research of the U.S. Army, the SOF Tourniquet—widely used by Special Forces, and the SAM XT— a TCCC recommended tourniquet. These windlass tourniquets can be applied quickly with one hand, with minimal training, and with maximum success. We also carry basic, ultra-portable compression straps such as the Tourni-Kwik 4L. Designed for stopping or slowing blood loss from large wounds or arteries, this simple device can also be applied one-handed and weighs a mere 2.9 ounces.

What Our Customers Say

stars
I'm a big fan of the product and have carried it for years, as a paramedic and deputy sheriff. Great tool for MCI kits.

With its compact size, the Swat-T can be carried in every kit. I have one in my EDC, as well as in my trauma kit. They can also be used as a general wrap, or combined with gauze, a suitable pressure dressing. Amazing product.

Bought this with personal funds to wear on my RSO vest. Gratefully I haven't had to use mine but it seems a well-thought evolution of the windlass-style TQ. Still working the best way to prep it for one-handed application. Definitely worth a look!

FAQs

What's the difference between a windlass tourniquet and an elastic tourniquet?
Windlass tourniquets use a rod and strap system for high-pressure arterial occlusion. Elastic tourniquets use stretchable materials to create pressure to stop blood flow. Both control life-threatening bleeding, and each tourniquet has specific features to consider.
Do I need special training to use a tourniquet effectively? +
Yes. Proper tourniquet application requires training to ensure effective blood flow occlusion without tissue injury. Stop the Bleed programs and tactical medicine classes cover this. Practice with training tourniquets builds the muscle memory needed for high-stress situations.
How do I know which tourniquet is right for my needs? +
For professional responders, windlass tourniquets like the CAT, SAM XT, or SOF, provide proven severe bleeding control. For a versatile tool, compact elastic designs work well. K9 and digit tourniquets serve specialized needs. Our team can help match your requirements. Most importantly, train with your tourniquet of choice for optimal proficiency and efficacy.
Can tourniquets be used on any part of the body? +
There are different types of tourniquets for different parts of the body. Standard tourniquets are for arms and legs only. Digit tourniquets are designed especially for fingers or toes. Never use a tourniquet on the neck, head, or torso. For junctional areas or high on limbs, use hemostatic gauze and direct pressure during first aid for bleeding.
How long can a tourniquet stay on safely? +
The priority is stopping life-threatening bleeding immediately. Only medical professionals in a clinical setting should remove a tourniquet once applied in the field, so do not worry about removing it after a certain amount of time. Stop the bleeding and get professional medical help as quickly as possible.
