Description

The Wildland Fire Personal First Aid Kit is a specialty IFAK designed specifically for the Wildland Firefighter, in response to the needs for improved and standardized medical supplies on the fireline. Rescue Essentials - in cooperation with Colorado and Wyoming Wildland Firefighters - has developed a kit with the components required to address both severe and minor injuries sustained in a Wildland Firefighting environment. Inadequate medical supplies, inconsistent medical kits and supplies, difficulty finding supplies in the kit. All these issues are addressed and resolved in the Wildland Fire Kit.

The Wildland kit unzips and opens like a book. No digging through a pouch full of supplies for what you need, no dumping the contents on the ground in panic mode and losing things in the wind.  Everything is in front of you and broken out into specific, clearly labeled modules: SEVERE BLEEDING, BURN TREATMENT, MINOR WOUNDS, MEDICATIONS. Quickly retrieve the components you need and leave everything else in place.

Advantages of Medical Kit Standardization

When all Firefighters on the crew are carrying a standardized First Aid Kit you have the advantage of the cumulative supplies you need to immediately address larger injuries. For example, if a crew member sustained a burn covering more the a 4" x 4" area, the site can be addressed by utilizing the burn dressing from other Wildland Kits. Now you have a 4" x 8", or a  4" x 12" burn dressing. Need two rolls of conforming gauze to hold the dressings in place? You have them. Standardizing First Aid Kits for a crew provides the resources you need to handle these injuries quickly before they worsen and require evacuation from the line.

    Most complete for the money

    Posted by NMP on 03 29 2018

To be honest most pre-made FAKs are extremely overpriced for the supplies that are in there. Additionally among pre-made kits they tend to be either 1) tactical/ trauma based. 2) mini van owner basic wounds and fracture based. or 3) everything under the sun and cost $300. This pre-made kit for me is a fine balance of having the essentials for handling most back country scenarios from arterial bleeding of a limb to the meds to treat basic ailments. To this kit I added a sam splint, some more meds, an additional TQ, and a couple more roles of coban and kerlix. With the personal additions I feel that this pre-made kit is one of the most complete around.

    Compact, Complete - AWESOME!!!

    Posted by Steve on 10 26 2015

When I got this kit, I immediately dissected it to see just how useful it is; I have NEVER come across such a complete, compact and full-featured kit like this one!! Let me say too that I have purchased more than 50 different/various first aid kits over the past year and a half, hoping to find something like this - great job Rescue essentials!! This kit has EVERYTHING you need for both minor trauma and boo-boo situations and everything in between, plus a few extras thrown in. And, because it's in a "pocketable" format, there's no excuse for not having it in one's backpack, car, suitcase.....whatever!! Add to that awesome capability that it comes at an unparalleled awesome price - only $39!! Amazing!! Totally satisfied with the Wildland Fire Personal First Aid Kit and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive, compact and price-worthy first aid kit!!
