How does a Water-Jel burn dressing work?

It does four things in one application: stops the burning process, cools the skin, eases pain, and covers the burn against contamination. The dressing is soaked in a water-based gel, so you place it on the burn wound rather than flushing and then wrapping separately.

What size burn dressing do I need?

Match the dressing to the burn area. A 4x4 fits a palm or the back of a hand, a 2x6 wraps a wrist or fingers, a 4x16 suits a forearm or lower leg, and an 8x18 covers a thigh, back, or shoulder. A pre-cut 12x16 handles facial burns. Combo packs carry the full range so you are not caught without the right size

Will the gel stick to the burn?

No. The current Water-Jel formula is clear and non-stick, so it lifts off a wound without tearing at the burn site, and emergency staff can see the wound through the clear gel without removing it. That’s important when the burn victim is handed off for further care.

What belongs in a burn kit?

Most burn modules pair dressings in a range of sizes with unit-dose burn gel, nitrile gloves, trauma shears, and an elastic or cohesive wrap to hold a dressing in place. Cooling the burn early supports pain management on scene, so many responders also carry the lidocaine burn gel alongside the dressings. Build around the burns your team is likely to see and the burn patients you treat most, and add a facial dressing if your response includes structure or vehicle fires.
