Patrol Officer's Pocket Trauma Kit

I love this trauma kit, it is the perfect size to fit inside the cargo pocket of my 5.11 Tactical pants and it also fits well inside the cargo pockets of my other tactical pants. I have never had to open the package yet, since I've never had to use the contents thankfully. But I am sure that all the included medical supplies are high quality and will save a life.

I have had 2 of these for 2+years, I carry one everyday just in case, just ordered 3 more as stocking stuffers, I was disappointed in the way they are being packed, my original 2 looked neat like the picture, nice smooth square package. The 3 I just received look like a vacuum sealed wad of newspaper, with zero shape or form, the plastic is wrinkled to the point it's difficult to even read te label inside. And the bunched up shape make it much less pocketable. I understand this is a price point item and its form over function but I would gladly have paid $1 more to have them packed like the original ones I gave. These are great kits and love my original ones, the packing on these new ones I have went from completely satisfied to considering investing in a vacuum sealer.

Extremely cost-effective to buy in bulk

I have ordered many of these for my guy's and they are great!! The only issue we have come across is after a little time the pack losses it's vacuum seal. When this happens it becomes bulky in our cargo pockets. Other than that great to have on hand. All my Assets carry these on their person.

Bought this for my range (shooting) bag. I hope I never need it, but it is the perfect size to keep in one of the outside pockets. Recommend.

I ordered this just to check it out for the department, I'm not really satisfied with the overall contents. The price is amazing but you get what you pay for.

Every Police Officer, Security Guard, EMS etc should carry one of these.

I have bought these for my USFS fire crew for the last two years. We work (often fatigued) in the center of the central California bug kill tree zone with sharp tools and falling trees. All five of us carry these instead of a large FAK in case someone gets a bad injury to await bringing up the trauma kit. They hold up well in a pack or cargo pocket without the pouch and are always on hand. They're at a low enough price I can get one for everyone. Thank you.

I'm in the process of purchasing approximately 300 of these for my dept. Our 1st wave is out on the street and we've used them multiple times on stabbing and gunshot victims. This pack is credited with saving lives no doubt. Its simple and easy to use. You can use every piece - plastic also. Price from RE is excellent.

Great product for the price and size, you could keep it in a larger kit or throw it right in your pocket, it's straight to the point stop the bleeding and keep the wound sterile.

Overall this kit is well thought out and would be a tremendous aid in a critical incident. The items inside of the kit would cover a round range of potentially deadly injuries. The only thing I do not like about the kit is that it's sold as a "pocket" kit. I don't know what kind of pockets they are referring to, but I do not have any that would be appropriate. The best way to approach this kit would be to also buy the small carry case that is made for it. It would and can carry on a duty belt without issue. Note: the SWAT T included does have a learning curve and requires some training before it can be used proficiently.

As a Patrol Officer, I have worn this product on my patrol belt for about a year and a half. I bought it as a self-reliant penetrating trauma kit for use by me ON me. I have reordered this kit because I used the one on patrol belt the other day. Not on myself, thank God. I was dispatched to an attempted suicide. Upon arrival, lots of blood, but no subject. The blood trail led over a wall and onto the railroad tracks that ran through the woods. I called for a K-9 and the dog found the subject in a heavily wooded area, where we never would have found him. The K-9 and handler backed out and I went in to the subject where I saw a male subject with that 1000 mile stare, shaking, and a lot of blood on the ground. My partner and I rolled the subject onto his back, where we immediately saw a laceration of the neck from ear to ear with heavy bleeding. The only thing available to control and hopefully stop that bleeding was your patrol kit. I handed the kit to my partner to open while I applied my gloves. I used the Z-folded gauze to immediately pack the wound and I held pressure to the wound. With reassurance and stemming the flow of blood, the subjects respirations and pulse rate decreased to the point where he could now give us his information. EMS eventually arrived, and took medical control of the subject. Your kit has been on my belt for over a year and never used until this event. It is unobtrusive, and I didn't even know it's there until I needed it. I think we may have saved a life that day, in a remote area, away from our cruiser, and it was made possible by your kit. i love the kit i carry in my scrubs pocket at work.Only thing is the swat t is rooled instead off being packed flat wich would make it slimer to carry.

For the price and for what it packs, you cant beat this product. A nice gift idea too!

This kit can go anywhere -- in a laptop bag, through airport security, in a pocket. Add Combat Gauze and an NPA and you've got what you need to keep someone alive for an ambulance.

The kit is packaged a little odd. It would seem like there could have been a little bit better planning on the vacuum packaging. There is some excess material but still can fit in a jacket pocket easily or cargo pocket. Contains all the necessary items for those "Just In Case" moments. Overall for the price and the contents its a 4 out of 5.

Decent Product. Contains the stuff you need in a pinch. The SWAT is a great idea but not so great for self rescue on an arm injury- not bad for a leg though - I like that it can be used as a compression dressing. The ZPak dressing will do the trick in most cases. The gloves will work but not good if you are trying to stay concealed. Same with the duct tape- great idea, useful for everything but a black or OD color would be better! All in all I think it will work while waiting for more definitive care from EMS or the ER.

Small enough to tuck away but big enough to save a life when needed. Great alternative for a first responder who might not be able to carry a full jump back.

A nice compact kit that offers a little peace of mind while on duty. I recently participated in an "Officer Down" training class. I learned the importance of having a tourniquet available when needed could be the difference between life and death for me orca fellow officer.

The items promised in the kit are rolled up as pointed out in Chris's review earlier. The packaging doesn't make clear that once you break that seal, the items are accessible. I put mine into a ziplock bag and instead of a pocket kit, it went into my range bag in case I'm around an accidental discharge. Great concept, but for plain clothes carry it doesn't work well unless you have a jacket.

They're clear about what this product is and isn't. It's bare-bones, but that's what makes it affordable. There are better products available but at more than twice the price. This thing fills a definite need. As we saw in Boston, you never know when you might need to take care of yourself or someone else until help can get to you.

But this product is not quite portable enough to carry around with you.

The product information doesn't include dimensions, so here it is: Mine was 4"x4"x2-1/8" -- a bit thick for a pocket. I put it in my back pocket and couldn't sit comfortably on it. I opened it up and saw the problem: the SWAT tourniquet is rolled up with the duct tape wrapped around it. I folded the SWAT flat and rolled the tape up and tucked the whole thing into a quart ziplock bag; it now measures 4"x6"x1-1/4" and is much more comfortable in the pocket. (Of course, that's not as durable as the vacuum sealed package.) I think the length could be reduced to 5-1/2" or so with a little work on the gauze. My point is they could make it much easier to carry with just a little re-arranging (they should probably fold the tape flat, too).

The site doesn't let you give half stars, and I debated on how to rate this. It's a four star product at best simply because of what it is. Making me operate on it -- which costs me the vacuum packaging -- has to cost them something, so I'm putting it at 3 stars, though I'd prefer to make it 3-1/2.
