Ankle Medical Holster

I've been wearing this whenever I go out and forget it's on there. I carry a Sof T, hyfin chest seal, Combat Gauze, gloves, trauma shears and sharpie in the pouches and webbing. I have pretty big calfs and it doesn't give me any trouble with the size. Works really well when wearing boots. I wear it most with the Lems Boulder Summit.

Ankle Medical Holster

I have two other ankle medical holsters from competitors, but the Rescue Essentials is by far the best I've tried. Not only is it more comfortable and concealable, it was less than half the price of the others!

The flapped pocket carries bandages and chest seals. The open-top pockets carry a Snakestaff Systems TQ and a small knife. I have a small Streamlight clipped into the MOLLE/PALS webbing, a feature I really like that's not present on the other ankle rigs I have.

I'm really glad the instructor at my last Stop the Bleed class showed us this unit. It's a great product and I highly recommend it!

Ankle Holster

Quality not the same as the 'loaded' kit I purchased. Maybe "seconds" quality at best, even materials feel thinner. Won't be buying any more of these

bigger than you'd think!

The holster itself is very tall. It's necessary to stuff in the bandages and SWATT, but it is surprising when you first get it.
Something like this could definitely benefit for some lighter material, as the thickness of this material does become an issue when trying to keep everything compact in a pant leg. I am carrying the default items - a Rescue Essentials compression bandage, a quick lot rolled gauze, and a SWATT tourniquet. I also have a beacon chest seal as well. The beacon, being prefolded, is not as easy to fold to pack in as the Hyfin I suspect is. However, it does fit. I also have a 3" compact seat of shears on the MOLLE section.
Biggest complaints are driven from the thickness of the nylon combined with some sharper points in the stitching which irritate the leg. You can wear this without a sock between your leg and the holster, but it's not as comfortable. The MOLLE section of the holster also seems a little uncessary. You can strap something to that panel, but I feel that it would have been better served as a thin pouch to spread out the items all around the leg.
One more recommendation would be to offer a thinner compression bandage so that panel is less thick. The bulkiest part of the ankle holster is the pouch with the chest seal and bandage.
Last recommendation would be to taper the holster - to make it tight on the leg (and not slide down to pinch between the shoe tongue and ankle), the velcro section needs to have a slight angle on it. If I make it fit the contour of the leg, the hook velcro will be at an angle with the loop velcro, causing some overlap. This overlap is uncomfortable because the exposed hook velcro can touch the leg (or tear up a sock).
Overall, however, I have been wearing this thing daily for 2 weeks and have largely forgotten it's presense. My pockets are full and I am happy at the idea of always having a SWATT around without using pocket space or carrying a separate bag. I love this product and would recommend it, but I do hope there's a "gen 2" down the line.

RESCUE ESSENTIALS ANKLE MEDICAL HOLSTER

I would buy it again. Three pockets. Two are smaller than I like, but there is not a lot of real estate on an ankle.

Rescue Ankle Holster

While the holster is good overall, it has some issues. It fits well, and the velcro is very secure. It is comfortable to wear all day. The issues I have are the pouch, and the stretch sleeves. The sleeves are a bit small. It was a major fight to get a CAT tourniquet into one. The pouch is also a bit small. I was able to fit chest seals, and a compressed gauze, bit I don't think there is sufficient room for a 4 inch israeli bandage and clotting gauze to be added. A little more room in the stretch sleeves and the pouch would be helpful.

Great item.

Great quality but too big

Excellent quality and design. Unfortunately it doesn't fit. After securing to my ankle I had about three inches of the holster left over. I will have to return it. If you have tree trunk ankles this excellent piece of equipment will work for you great!

Great way to carry

I've had this for a couple years now. I wear it on duty and off. I have a tourniquet, z fold combat gauze, and chest seals in it.

Ankle Medical Holster

I have been looking for another option to carry both my tourniquet and narcan on my person at work. We were issued a belt holster for the tourniquet, but mine kept coming out while getting in and out of vehicles. I had been carrying my narcan wrapped up in a sock with the top part of another sock I cut the toe section off of up around the top of my boot. I have now finally found a product which both stays in place, I can pull my pant leg up and down with no issues. I can also carry both my tourniquet and narcan securely. This product is made well and will not break the bank in buying it. Thank you making this! I highly recommend it!!

medical ankle carry holster

I have taken 3 combat medical trauma classes in the last 5 months. It is hard to add more gear to your waist belt - duty or civilian. I bought this ankle model and have worn it 16 hours a day loaded with no comfort complaints. I wish the loops were elastic instead of solid cloth. I carry a CAT tourniquet, a wound pack cloth, an Israeli bandage, Gorilla tape on a second windless rod, 2 pairs of Rescue Essentials rolled up gloves and one chest seal patch. I cut the bottom base material open on one pocket to make the CAT fit. I am prepared to save one important life for sure - mine.

Ankle Med Holster

I have the following in this: (1) Bearclaw gloves, (1) Epi-Pen, (1) Benchmade 7-Hook, (1) 50g quickclot sponge, (1) NAR Compressed Gauze, (1) Set Hyfin Vented Compact chest seals, and (1) Cat gen 4 TQ(Will be switching to a Soft-t Wide for hopefully a slimmer fit). Only complaint is that it needs a calf strap because it does not stay where I secure it.

Great Product

This product is wonderful. The fit is great and I can carry all my important supplies with me without bulky pockets. The holster could use more fully covered pockets but overall a great product.

All-in-all a good deal.

I have worn this medical holster for a few weeks now. All-in-all its been very confortable. I keep a tourniquet, a roll of hemostatic dressing, two vented chest seals, and a small marker in my kit. I would give it 5 stars if the other two pickets had a flap to secure the contents as well as the larger picket. I have had both a CAT and a SOFT-T fall out as I worked through the day getting in and out of my vehicle. I ended up using a thick rubber band to secure the tourniquet in the holster.

you better have big ankles

Maybe I'm wrong, but I intended to wear this product around my ankle with low-top hikers. Way to big for that. The only way I can use it is if I wear it above my calf. Is that where it is supposed to be worn? I guess it would work well over a boot. Very well made though.

Rescue Essentials response:
Thank you for your input. Based on this feedback, we will be including ankle circumference min/max specs into the product description in the near future. We greatly appreciate your communication!

Best one I've bought yet

I've bought over a half dozen ankle IFAK holsters trying to find the best one, and I finally found it. The size is perfect whether I'm wearing my daily hiking-type shoes and jeans, or my 8" 5.11 duty boots and BDU's. Plenty of room for adjustment for either position. I keep mine nice and compact by way of what I carry: Celox Rapid Ribbon, mini compression bandage, two 4x4 petrolatum gauze, 6' flat folded Gorilla tape, flat folded SOFFT-W, 5" shears, and a pair of gloves. The large pouch with the Velcro flap is the perfect size for the mini compression bandage, petro gauze and the tape. TQ in the pocket right next to it. Then the Celox and gloves in the outside pocket. The shears are tucked into the PALS ladder next to the Celox and held in place with a short piece of double sided Velcro. This holster does not move around, stays securely Velcro'd together, and with the items I'm using is undetectable. It took me getting undressed and my wife seeing me take it off before she even knew I was even wearing it under my jeans. With the extra PALS room, I'll probably use a couple more double sided Velcro strips and attach an NPA. Nice job RE!!

BULKY GENERAL DESIGN

Average guy here. Want something for work to carry trauma med supplies so my pockets are not so full. The design of this item is over-sized for what it carries. Could be 2/3 the physical foot print and accomplish the task at holding two RAT tourniquets, gloves, an IZZY 4", possibly combat gauze. Of course there is only one competitor to this item so its what I currently have to work with. 1-2 inches longer overall than necessary. Might be a good thing offering two sizes a small / medium and a medium / large and publish overall physical size so the buyer will can measure their own leg to see if will fit.

Good if it fits your needs

I carry this on 8" boots and carry a SOFTT-W Tourniquet and Cleer Medical Dressing. It's comfortable, it stays in place, and really isn't visible. From a duty standpoint... it's fantastic. If you are thinking of carrying this with low cut boots or tennis shoes... I would reconsider. It's too large for that application and would not stay in place. It does it's job and get's 4 stars for that.

After my EDC experience, this is a gift to a family LEO

This is a great item! Well designed, carries immediate TECC needs. It's NOT bulky, it IS comfortable for EDC, and it's discreet. My son-in-law is a LEO and was wanting something other than a larger kit to add to an already crowded duty belt or left in the car. This item is PERFECT!

Great Kit

I really like this kit. It is comfortable to wear and it really disappears under a pant leg. I was able to duplicate the contents of the Dark Angel Medical lite D.A.R.K. into this rig. 1 SOFT-W TQ, 1 H&H Mini Compression Bandage, QuickClot Combat Gauze, Hyfin Vent Compact chest seals, 4" mini trauma shears, 2 pairs of rolled nitrile gloves, and a sharpie. If you separate the Hyfiin chest seals and wrap them around the QC gauze and bandage, you can fit that as a package into the big pouch. TQ goes in one smaller pouch and gloves in the other. Shears and sharpie in the molle webbing.

Great overall medical kit!

This kit allows me to carry a full medical kit on duty without the bulk of a full drop leg med pouch. I carry the following on the ankle rig...
(1) CAT TQ
(1) Quik Clot Combat Gauze LE
(1) 4in. Israeli Bandage
(1) CPR Face Shield
(1) Pair of Hyfin Vent Chest Seals
(1) No.28 NPA w/ lube
(1) Full size Trauma Shears
(1) Sharpie
Overall great little rig to run!

Very nice

I just got mine so not much use yet. But I like it . I wear scrubs at work and this works great with my scrubs. However I only have a 4" israeli bandage, 2 pairs of nitrile gloves and a SWAT-T in mine. How are you guys getting so much in yours and getting your pants leg down?!

Been carrying this holster for almost a year...

...and it has been an outstanding solution. My agency issues excellent medical kits but they're about the size of a youth football, not practical to remove from the car on every call. That was a problem because where I work we could be on the 20th floor of an apt. building or 500 yards from our vehicle in a park area. Too far to go in an emergency. I had no more room on my belt or my outer carrier. This rig allows me to carry an extra tourniquet, Celox, flat packed gauze, 2 compact chest seals, and a 4" pressure bandage. No, not a complete kit. But WAY better than nothing. Best part is I throw it on right under my jeans when I'm not working. I've been carrying it almost a year and it's never been spotted by family or friends (gotta hide some of the crazy) and it's held up very well. Highly recommended.

Radical

This ankle wrap is the bee's knees. Carrying medical gear is an absolute must, and this kit allows me to carry a full blow out kit, which includes:
- 1 SOF-T Wide
- 1 H&H mini compression bandage
- 1 Quick Clot Combat Gauze
- 1 NPA
- 1 beacon pocket chest seal
- 1 chest decompression needle

See that? That's the bee's knees right there. I've tried other ankle ankle medical kits, but this is the only one I know of that allows the user to carry a FULL medical kit... Wait for it... COMFORTABLY! Of course, I can feel the kit hanging on my ankle, but it is secure, and it does not irritate my skin. As long as you wear it under a pair of decently fitted pants, you should be able to conceal a full kit too. I wear simple slim straight denim (Levi's 514's and American Eagle) and GAP dress slacks size 30" x 32". Try it out! If you want to carry a full blow out kit, and aren't bothered by ankle carry rigs, this kit should work for you.

Excellent ankle medical holster

The Rescue Essentials ankle medical holster is a near perfect solution to the need to carry additional items of any kind. The workmanship and materials are both outstanding.

very comfortable

I use this product for other things than medical purposes. It works great for putting objects that I used to have to carry in my pocket. In no time at all you don't even know it's there. Quality of material and workmanship is absolutely the best.
