H*VENT Chest Seal

This hydrogel chest seal is a compact, low-profile, vented occlusive dressing that utilizes an innovative H*VENT design to relieve pressure in an open wound caused by air (pneumothorax) or bodily fluid (hemothorax) in the chest. The unique H*VENT design allows fluids to drain out in multiple directions, flowing towards gravity. This allows for the patient to be transported in a variety of configurations (on their side, etc.). This innovative system includes 6 individual vents, which means even if some become blocked, as long as one is functional it will work as intended. Its dome-shaped membrane ensures a complete seal around the wound, and provides easy visual monitoring - the dome billows up if air or fluid are leaving the chest, and is sucked down when the seal is in place. Internal testing has proven that the seal is retained during inhalation and a continual negative pressure is sustained (below ambient pressure) within the pleural space.

The H*VENT Vented Chest Seal is sold as a single pack, but it is also available in a two-pack.
