FAQs
Please read our FAQ page to find out more.
What is an IFAK?
An IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) is a compact trauma kit designed to treat life-threatening injuries, especially severe bleeding, in emergency situations before professional medical help arrives.
What items are typically included in a tactical IFAK?
A military IFAK typically includes a tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, compressed gauze and a pressure dressing for controlling severe bleeding. Many kits also contain chest seals, medical gloves, trauma shears, tape and a casualty documentation card. Contents vary by service, mission and the medical training of the person carrying the kit.
Who should carry an IFAK?
Service members who may face traumatic injury during training, deployment or field operations should carry or have quick access to an IFAK. This includes combat personnel, vehicle crews, aircrews, security forces and support personnel working in hazardous environments. Each person should be trained to use the kit and keep or carry it in a consistent, easily accessible location.
Can I customize an IFAK?
Yes. Many of our kits are modular or can be custom configured. Contact our team for help selecting components that match your agency protocols, vehicle setup or response needs.
Do I need training to use an IFAK?
You do not need to be a medical professional to learn how to use an IFAK, but hands-on training is strongly recommended. A first aid or Stop the Bleed course teaches you to recognize life-threatening bleeding, pack a wound and correctly apply a tourniquet. Proper training helps you use the kit safely and confidently until emergency medical services arrive. Always familiarize yourself with the components of your IFAK so you can respond quickly when seconds count.
